Heavy disc with hole and thread

Rang up as copper penny...has some weight to it and has a hole at the top with a small bit of thread as if it was hanging from something. Initially thought a token worn as a necklace but seems to heavy and no writing on it. Also thought some sort of plumb bob but I've never seen one disc shaped like this. Found on an old farm on a creek bank.

first thing that comes to mind is a clapper from wind chimes, but I'm not so sure. It looks pretty old
