I found this yesterday coming out of a stream bank. I've got a serious technical question:

there looks to be a crack line running at an angle around it. I'm not wanting to be the guy who breaks it. NOT SURE what to do. Any suggestions?

Very nice find. I'd put it in a safe, padded place, stop handling it and maybe put a zip tie on it until you can come up with something better.

Congrats on a great recovery!
Nice find! My technique for stabilizing cracks was to use thinned model airplane glue & use a brake bleeder to pull a vacuum. Use a soft rag soaked in MEK to clean off the excess. Nowadays you can order the solution they use to stabilize low grade turquoise. Talk to the conservation dept at your localuseum, they can get you pointed in the right direction.

Yeah, it's not in pieces. But I'm just afraid a hard knock might cause more fracture. . . and all the rest of the consequences.

Perhaps just find a stand for it.
