From Croatia. Just two years in this hobby. Found some cool stuff that I wanna share ,and get help to Id. some of them. I can see on this forum there are many people from europe so I think this will be a good site for me. Thank you for excepting me. And here is my one new find: byzantine coin thousand year old. And two older finds that I need help with , if anyone knows what are they part of. Thank you. Peace

Jealous there’s no 1000 year old coins in the states… well depending on how much the Vikings spread on the continent… I can’t imagine having the chance of finding metal items thousands of years old at any time

In using online similar matches.
The 2 items come up as Mace Heads.

They have very similar characteristics.

Welcome to Tnet and thanks for sharing your interesting finds.

I’m going to go out on a limb here and say those are tuning pegs from a stringed musical instrument. I would bet they’re from a tamburica (or tambura/tanbura), a long-necked lute-like instrument that has a several varieties differing in the number of strings which originated in Southern or Central Asia (Mesopotamia and Persia/Iran).

It was believed to have been introduced to Croatia during the Byzantine Empire via the Turkish conquests between the 14th-16th Centuries and has ultimately been adopted as your national folk instrument.

These are modern pegs, carved from wood:

Thank you . I am not sure if that is it considerimg mine are made from bronze and they are pretty heavy . But maybe they used them before wood . Thank you very much that is a good idea. Some one told me they could be parts of a medieval dagger. And big bronze needle, but still I haven't found anything like it.

Is there wood or metal in the inside of that one on the left in your hand?
Looks like a bit of wood protruding...

Or is there anything on the inside of them at all?

They look a lot like the pommel from a knife or small sword..
