This may sound far out but I've seen pads or discs that people wore pads on their shoes to enable them to walk on bogs, marshes, and soft ground ?

What size is it?

What is it made of? Metal, leather, cheese...?

Did you find it on top of the ground or dig it up?

90% Sure it's made of lead.

It’s about 8” round non magnetic with iron straps on back that are riveted on . I found this in an old farm field about 8” down, it originally was flat and seems it was hit by farm plow many years ago and broke this piece off, beautiful brown patina, I have cleaned a small piece off and see it’s silver in color could it be an old decorative item on a wagon or sled or a breast plate.

Have you done a streak test on the broken piece?

This does not look like any stirrup I've ever made, worked on or seen. American or otherwise.

It looks more like a guard or heat shield.

I DO NOT HAVE A TEST KIT BUT I HEARD IT MIGHT BE A PLATE TO BE STRAPPED TO A SHOE TO WALK ON WET OR TILLED GROUND ON A FIELD OR FARM ?
