Found this Friday at a site where we've been finding some early 1900's relics. Its the size of a penny and looks like Lincoln but I have no idea What it is. Any input will be greatly appreciated! Thanks for looking.

Hey Darby... I can not help with the ID, but whatever it is it is cool. I am certain somebody will know what it is. GL&HH!

Thanks Tom! Had some great weather this weekend. Hope you were able tovgo diggin some.

Looks like a button cover..

Thanks ParkPirate. Kind of thin to be part of a button but maybe (?). Thanks for looking!

My thought was that if you had CSA buttons, after 1865, you could put this "cover" over them, so that they would remain in "style". The image looks like Lincoln, but faces the other way from the modern cent coin, so we can assume that it was not modeled after the coin. Hope this makes sense.

Whatever it is, I like it!

Hope some one can id this.......im curious. Interesting piece. It was a muddy week, but fun

Could it possibly be a chocolate or butter press?

I looked around just briefly and the one thing that looked kind of close although not the same was a Lincoln mourning ribbon/ badge; possibly something along that angle
