Here's a link proporting your Star buckle to be a "Texas Mounted Volunteer Sash Buckle ca 1846.

https://historical.ha.com/itm/milit...lunteer-sash-buckle-circa-1846/a/6104-44034.s

Here's another link stating either Confederate Texas or Mississippi buckle. The link has a remark where a collector (Relicman), has given the buckle his blessing as being real.

https://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?/topic/119851-civil-war-texas-sash-buckle/

I cannot speak to the correctness of either claim, but I'm looking and reading.

Here's a complete example of the buckle.

That you for the info! I honestly never thought I would find something that could be civil war in Nova Scotia of all places.

The star buckle is a civilian buckle that may have been used by some militia units Texas or Mississippi, however it was too flimsy to be used on campaign. The rectangular buckle is a late 18th Century knee buckle, The other buckle looks like Victorian era sash buckle.
