Help please

Damnails and I hunted a site this weekend where he found a 1700s spanish silver and I found a 1827 LC. We both found several early buttons and this. He found the first part Sat and I found the other part Sun. Its brass and has what looks like IB marked on the back. We are thinking maybe a shoe buckle or brooch. What do you think?

That's pretty beefy. I'd guess buckle. All the broaches I've found were a lot thinner.
