Found this detecting in the SC low country. My local coin dealer says that it's counterfeit. What a disappointment!

Thanks Tonto, he said the edge should be reeded and this one is smooth. I don't know much about coins.

I don't think your coin dealer knows his Massachusetts silver very well either, they never had a reeded edge it should be smooth. He was right about one thing though, your coin is a replica.

I know that some awesome old coins have recently come out the Low Country... shame that couldn't have been one of them. Still a nice find... better than a zinc cent, right? GL&HH.
