WOW!!!! I really like the Rice stoneware!!! We need to put a limit on how much you can find in one week! I am jealous. This is like picking berries for you.

Nice stuff Jim, I don't the firemans plaque you mentioned...

Interesting, I'm wondering if it's fire related at all. I guess those three slots were for some sort of tabs that got folded over and held something else in place but it's too big to be a badge of any kind. I'm thinking it could have been part of a sign for a farrier at one of the stables in Paterson, is there anything in the circle or square below it?

How did that chamber pot survive. You have dug more in one day then I have all year. Keep them coming.

also just realized after looking back at my posts my cats are photo bombing me.......lol

Hey Jim... Nice finds!!! I'm getting itchy to get back in the water... had my back surgery and vertebra fused about a month ago now, so I am living my bottle illness vicariously through you and all my friends on the internet. Hope all is going well for you. Maybe I'll have to take a long trip down for "re-hab" of course. The surgery was done in West Haven, Ct so it shouldn't be but another couple hours to get down to Paterson. Oh well, just a thought. I haven't had any work since last November, so I might as well do something, right? Stay safe and keep digging!!!

old ih

still not able to dig because of the rain lately but the river has gone down and i noticed the old clay pipe and an indian head penny was exposed in my dirt pile from the hole i am digging (at least the rain is doing something for me) i still havent screened much but i mght start the the penny is rough but with my loupe i can see the date 1864 my oldest ih to date just wish it was in better shape

the thread that just wont die!! I love this!

Nicely done. You should deffinantly sift it. And congrats on the civil war era coinage. And a peroxide bath should clean that up.
