update: thanks for all the comments for these finds, ive been looking at them all day, this site was settled as early as 1712 so it could have been buried then or a later time, but i will not scrap, separate, or sell, in case anybody was wandering......Just went to a new field where a early 1900s house was and pulled a silver half and Rosie. Then I get a deep faint target and over a foot deep I get this silver plated case. And 4 gold rings inside! They tested at least 10k except one is 18k. Holy crap, I'm still out here in the field going at it, but had to post this. 1 has a date of 1730 and another has a date of 1732. Could they be this old? Will get more pics when I get home

Some more pics real quick, looks like the tin they were in is silver! 1 ring says nothing, 1 says g p g 22 Jan 1732 on inside, 1 says hearts united live contented on inside, and last one says George king obe 4 oct 1730

There's a marking on the tin they were in, see pic

Absolutely incredible! One of the most unique, rare and historic recoveries in a long time. Glad to hear they will all remain together.

On the George King ring I'm fairly sure it would have been produced in memory of a George King who died on the 4th of October 1730. The Obe (usually just ob) is intended as a contraction of obit to indicate that's when he died.

I've had a quick look to see if I can find a match but nothing came up unfortunately

I'm just going to throw it out there, that if sold (I never would) as a collection & story it must be in the $8,000-$10,000 range. Maybe a bit more with the wind behind it.

On the posy ring the British museum has 2 posy rings with different RG makers marks. One is attributed to Richard Glanville a goldsmith in London in the 18th century and the other is described as being possibly by him also. Your mark doesn't quite match either mark but it's very similar to one of them and it's quite common for gold and silversmiths marks to change over time.

I'm not sure about all of them, but the Posy Ring that is inscribed "Hearts United Live Contented" is a ring given as a sentiment between the union of two people.... so that one is a wedding band, or the circa 17th to 18th century equivalent of one. I am not sure about the rest, so I cant speculate on what the meanings of the King George and other dates mean.

Actually I agree with this...

The ring you are referring to is also known as a "motto ring"...

The George one is prolly commemorative type of ring... but ?

As far as the others.

I just assumed someone burying them would associate with "mourning". heh

Perhaps some research is due...

I was waiting on inputs from someone out there... but they never came.

My research days are nil these days here.

To me, that's amazing, I'm a coin and jewelry guy.......Such nice rings, so detailed with all the dated inscriptions, craftsmen didn't have the machinery or tools
to do it so easy like today... All hand stamped and engraved !!!! I'm Smiling like Hell, and their not even mine... Just dreaming...

Holy freakin moley! Killer finds and an amazing one of a kind piece of history!!

Congrats, sorry I missed this. that would be so cool to find!
