update: thanks for all the comments for these finds, ive been looking at them all day, this site was settled as early as 1712 so it could have been buried then or a later time, but i will not scrap, separate, or sell, in case anybody was wandering......Just went to a new field where a early 1900s house was and pulled a silver half and Rosie. Then I get a deep faint target and over a foot deep I get this silver plated case. And 4 gold rings inside! They tested at least 10k except one is 18k. Holy crap, I'm still out here in the field going at it, but had to post this. 1 has a date of 1730 and another has a date of 1732. Could they be this old? Will get more pics when I get home

Some more pics real quick, looks like the tin they were in is silver! 1 ring says nothing, 1 says g p g 22 Jan 1732 on inside, 1 says hearts united live contented on inside, and last one says George king obe 4 oct 1730

There's a marking on the tin they were in, see pic

Absolutely awesome!!! Huge congrats!

EPIC! Congratulations!

Wonderful way to start the new year, congratulations. Got my heart rate up and I'm just looking at the photos of your finds and thinking how I would feel to recover something like this.

That is amazing. I wouldn't ever break up the finds either. Way cooler keeping it all together. I would vote banner but your already up there. Wishing you a big congrats on that find. Way to go! [emoji2][emoji106]

Now I've seen all the pictures, I think your be surprised what the net worth of those are!

Ack! It just dawned on me that it's probably George King not King George! Experiencing some confirmation bias. Anybody have Ancestry to check on a George King with an event date of Oct 4, 1730?

Outstanding!
It kinda ticks off a pile off the bucket list in one shot!

I have no words to describe this find, I can only describe my current state; speechless and envious....

CONGRATULATIONS!

That is an unreal find. That is some OLD GOLD. It has a different look to it. I would have been done digging for the day after that came out. Congratulations !

Colonial gold rings are rare enough. To find four of them in a silver case is insane, especially with the inscriptions and dates on a couple of them. I have to think they were hid for safekeeping, maybe during the Revolutionary War! Have you found any other colonial items in that area?

Now I've seen all the pictures, I think your be surprised what the net worth of those are!

Really? Like what? Are they English you think?

so astonishing, it overloaded my brain.

Do you have a photo of the inscription king george obe 4, Oct, 1730? 1730 was the year of the Whitehall Treaty between the British and Cherokee. OBE in modern times stands for Officer of the British Empire, but this honor was not created until 1917. I'm wondering if OBE could have stood back then for an honorific title in the Order of the Bath, which had only recently been established by George I in 1725.

WHOA!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Crabstang44. I did a little internet slouthing on values. Looks like the mourning ring (my favorite!!) in this era goes for $1,500-2,000. Your 2 gold wedding bands around $1,500 each with the engraving dates you have and the hand made one, not sure, but maybe another $1,000 since you can document it is part of this set/find. With the silver box and my non official antiques roadshow valuation I would say this treasure is worth around $7,000. Any one else have a guess??

I showed these to a friend of mine, an older guy, who knows a lot about everything.....
First words out of his mouth were....get this....
"obe, that's Order of The British Empire".... he was a knight"
No really, he knows this.... he says George King was obviously Knighted by the Monarchy....
