update: thanks for all the comments for these finds, ive been looking at them all day, this site was settled as early as 1712 so it could have been buried then or a later time, but i will not scrap, separate, or sell, in case anybody was wandering......Just went to a new field where a early 1900s house was and pulled a silver half and Rosie. Then I get a deep faint target and over a foot deep I get this silver plated case. And 4 gold rings inside! They tested at least 10k except one is 18k. Holy crap, I'm still out here in the field going at it, but had to post this. 1 has a date of 1730 and another has a date of 1732. Could they be this old? Will get more pics when I get home

Some more pics real quick, looks like the tin they were in is silver! 1 ring says nothing, 1 says g p g 22 Jan 1732 on inside, 1 says hearts united live contented on inside, and last one says George king obe 4 oct 1730

There's a marking on the tin they were in, see pic

Great Find!!!!

Wow! There's not enough words to say what an awesome find these are! Congratulations!

FYI...they are mourning rings.

Dropped during the drunkenness of the funeral...
Which they drank at all funerals of this time...

or buried on purpose...

Generally handed down through gens... some do not want them... even though the symbolism of them is a good thing... some felt otherwise and did not like them around...
And hence..

Buried them.

Box and rings may or may not be of same period.

Truly a find of a lifetime !!!! Congratulations

CONGRATS ! that is totally amazing .

I would love to see more pics too....great for you!

I'm not sure about all of them, but the Posy Ring that is inscribed "Hearts United Live Contented" is a ring given as a sentiment between the union of two people.... so that one is a wedding band, or the circa 17th to 18th century equivalent of one. I am not sure about the rest, so I cant speculate on what the meanings of the King George and other dates mean.

So tell us did you find this treasure with the etrac or racer 2? Congratulations, epic find!

MAN!
That's what detecting dreams are made of .
WOW!

Wow, truly remarkable find. Congratulations, please keep us updated

I always use the etrac on new sites. As I know the sounds of this machine well, so my ol faithful etrac found these, but the race 2 is a beast in iron and has great depth. It has an amazingly fast processor like the Xp deus

That is a treasure and I know you've worked hard for it I think most of us have just your turn Great job!!!!!!!

I've been a bit of a lurker for a while now, but I had to join with everybody else with a huge congrats on an epic find. A find like that, excuse me... finds like that, i.e., a hoard of 18th century gold rings, is the type of discovery that will just keep giving. I'm referring to all the hopeful research that I urge you to conduct and just perhaps determine how those rings came to end up in that field. If I were you, I'd be smiling even in my sleep. O recommend researching the local history of the area. The internet age makes it possible to discover some long forgotten history. You have the finds that will hopefully connect all the dots to reveal a fascinating history equal to those long lost gold rings. Good luck my friend.

Absolutely astounding find! Gold rings from that era are quite rare, and most were worn by people of considerable wealth and social stature. I was just telling my brother a few weeks ago that one of the few finds that would exceed an early coin cache would be a cash of gold jewelry! I have never heard of anyone recovering a cache of early gold jewelry at at American site! How we all would love to know the story as to how why those rings were buried there and to whom they belonged. Congratulations on your incredible, once-in-a-lifetime find!

That is unreal. Amazing find.

I have dreams about this find now, that's how amazing it is. It is valuable in so many ways more than just monetary. T-net users will speak of this find forever and honestly it will likely dwarf every other banner find from now until at least a year or so. Unless someone finds a larger hoard of early 18th century colonial gold I'm confident your find will be regarded as one of the best on here for a long long time. :treasurechest:
