Homemade 19th Century Salad Set

We were dismantelling a building last Wednesday at our local ghost town (Quesnel Forks, B.C.) that is due for restoration this year and out from the two lowest layers of logs, out pops this pair, nestled together. My co-worker Robin picked them up and said, "Hey look at this."

They appear to be hand-carved out of cedar shingles. The spoon is 15" long and the fork, 14". The spoon actually has a cupped shape.

(After that, all we found were cut nails and broken glass.)

Those are fascinating. They are very expedient and crude...... personal.

With the right display arrangement, those will be easy to appreciate and enjoy.

They are a pair unlike any other and they, like everything else, go to the local museum.

What salad do you suggest with the display? Macaroni, tossed, chef's maybe? ;D
