I had one of those once that was my grandmothers. The wood is black and is usually ebony. Some have a skull and crossbones at the base like this one. Don't know exact age. Gary

The Cross is a special find - as we are well into Holy Week now ! The absence of the Body of Christ on the cross is a powerful reminder that the story doesn't end there ! As to dating it I think it is circa 1870 - 1900 - Reminds me of Victorian crosses worn by Monks and Nuns ..Nice find !

Absolutely awesome find Joe! As my avatar will depict, I'm a huge fan of religious items- I found my avatar Jesus medallion with the crucifix on Good Friday, 2004- meant so much to me that's it's tattooed on my arm.
