Hot Diggity dawg Update "pillar dollar , seated dime" today

Hi T-Net 4-9-10 The past few weekends I have been in and out of the farm field digging all over this place . For the most part all I found were the usual farm debris scattered throughout acres of field .Finally found an area that was used to make charcoal ..fire pits " . The farmer remembers mounds of these charcoal pits 50 years ago . There was also a work area for cutting timber . A lot of broken horse shoes and wagon iron ,one time, a stable . I did find buckles and lots of relics at this part of the field .Went from cold to hot ... Buckles , shoe and horse tack . 3 in Mar ...5 last week anyway totaled out with 10-11 of them ,for 4 hunts . 18 buttons. Today ,dealing with rain and wind , I found a KG III Hibernia , piece of a silver buckle , and more flat buttons, 2 deer antler sheds , and another :o tack buckle . . Thanks for your interest CMD dawg 4-11-2010 1871 Seated dime found today Quick hunt this mourning .. came up with this silver 1871 dime !! Sti!! diggin' 1764 pILLAR dollar coin button CMD

I like those Irish! It's George III by the way. What is the date?
oops .. Thanks IP The date is rough , looks like a 1783

Try to post a close picture. 1783 would be a good one, so I suspect 1782.
:laughing9: why ,I want tit to be a good one ;D

Just because. ;D
need more light 8) may take a while .. check out the buckles , any thing of interest ???

Like that oldie in the center! Don't see those dug around here.
Thanks , That one is a "first", in one piece . Found similar design,at a diff. field , but the harrowing disc's, murdered it . :-\

I've found pieces of what would have been beautiful buckles. One was solid silver and marked... would have been awesome.

Re: Hot Diggity dawg

Okay, here's my newbie question.

How come there's so many belt buckles that are dug? It always baffles me that some areas produce so many.

:sign13: Travelers relied on horseback and stage coaches ,all the climbing and dismounting , led to lost buckles, coins , and buttons , at some of the more active places . There was a stable where these were found . Thanks for your interest

Re: Hot Diggity dawg Update "pillar dollar , seated dime" today

I have never seen one of those pillar buttons that large. Much better than most Spanish silver coins that are found! I personally think it's a banner find considering my cob and even less quality Spanish reales have made it up there.

IP, you sure have seen one that large before, in person and on forums. :D

BTW, I just posted the same button a few days ago and in 2009.

Nope... I apprarently had that one on ignore. ;D I guess that makes 2, but still something that is rarely posted.

Re: Hot Diggity dawg Update "pillar dollar , seated dime" today

that dollar looks amazing. would love to see some better pics of it.
you might wanna even give it it's own thread. i almost missed it as an addendum to your previous post.
the dime is sweet, too. nice little streak you've put together.

Re: Hot Diggity dawg Update "pillar dollar , seated dime" today

Don, that makes me wonder if that was what my friend the Cladman found. I'll have to ask him what type of reale it was.
