For myself, I use every available resource in the recovery of sought after items, document research, maps, metal detectors, and dowsing. When considered as a group of tools they work together like a hand in a glove. Cheers!!

It took me a while, but finally found the thread. Also glad to see a couple others later added their congrats for his best finds ever. I just noticed the axe head looks like a type the fur traders had (similar to a throwing hawk), to swap for furs Native Americans brought them.

Well to be the realist @hole, while having a good knowledge of physics, there is no way scientifically that dowsing could work (boots on the ground method or any other method). Some people try to say that electromagnetic energy is channeled into the rods by the user which is complete BS. As much as I am tempted to at times I am not going to argue with people who think they work, my biggest grievance however, lies with the individuals who are selling these L-rods on E-bay and other places essentially scamming people at scandalous prices.

So, this is an interesting take. I must admit, I feel the same way in some respects, but the part of me that loves the thrill of the unknown thinks otherwise. There is a person on this forum whom I "tested", so to speak, on a site that I'm currently working on. I gave him zero detail about what I had already found or what I was looking for. He successfully pinpointed (within 10 yards) the biggest lead I've been working on, and cemented other suspicions that I had about the site. Either he was just damn lucky, and I mean really damn lucky, or there is something to the skill and talent. I don't begrudge the naysayers, because I was there not long ago -- just like everything else in life, you really can't comment on it until you've done it... or something like that.

We had a guy once from Brazil, post maps in here. He lived in a good area, even found some loose gold coins in the past. A signal, one of several got checked out, then a coin cache recovered. You could say he got lucky (or made a dowsing find), it is a place Guerrila fighters had made a lot of caches. While checking out spots marked on the maps, we heard a lot of thank you, thank you, in the thread. A tree was in the way, they took it down which spilled coins all over the ground. No comments were made by him after that to confirm the find in the dowsing board. The compensation promised was a video of the recovery, never got the video either.

Since then I've been told it is illegal for the ordinary person, to send gold out of the country, except to wear gold jewelry when leaving. Not only that, you could have your vehicle and equipment confiscated besides the treasure you found. So, there is no way in a situation like a found Brazilian cache we could ever get to see the find photos.

Really , I am not discarding something I don't really understand. That would just be ignorant. I just wanted to know if there were people that are in the middle of the road on how they feel about it.

Because usally you only see people supporting it to the fullest, or people talking shii about it.

There are a lot who haven't found much yet, maybe they are waiting to retire, so enough time to go search. I am aware of what I consider dowser mistakes, I've made my share of them also. I think (just my opinion) a lot of spots believed to be caches, in all reality might actually be loose coins/treasure, especially places where stuff is deep (Florida a good example).

The question I always ask the skeptics that 99.9% of the time either gets ignored or starts a torrent of garbage thrown my way is.

"If dowsing doesn't work can you tell me in facts why it doesn't work?" "You say there's science behind dowsing not working, can you show me scientific facts of that?"

Just because it doesn't fit into what your theory is of how the world works doesn't mean it isn't viable. Just because something is beyond my knowledge doesn't make it bogus.
Had a conversation with an astronomer (who's had a comet named after him) about life on other planets or other galaxies. His statement was there's no life on other planets because none can support carbon based life. I've asked him in years later if he still believes that & I got no response, later on in years he wouldn't even talk to me.

I posted a link only (rather than insert YouTube) to a gold nugget dowsing video, recently on a gold prospecting forum. The guy mentions how once he had a dowser come out to his gold area, dowse a spot. He dug and up came a 2 1/2 ounce nugget. In the video his daughter dowses a nice gold nugget using a single rod. It is the same video I posted in the dowsing board here (another thread). He made a video, because once the skeptic was him, now believes in it.

A big mistake to post that video on a prospecting forum, it was called crap immediately, they say you can't dowse for gold. I don't consider them skeptics, they remind me of the Holocaust deniers, no matter what you show them, no amount of photos or documentation could ever convince them.

I can not speak for the other map dowsers on this board. For myself I do not do a full search of every map. I only search for items that interest me. Why..It is easier for me to phase the question so I can get the information.
I did a map for another gentleman on another forum a few weeks ago. I had gold coins and he found a jar of old dimes. Yes I may have been wrong but this guy has sent me more maps to do…I change my avatar every few weeks and try put one of my finds on it

We should also make a distinction between dowsing and LRL type devices. Although some lump them all into the same category of "Imaginary Science", I say different. I believe that some people have the ability to dowse. Maybe one one hundredth the number of people that CLAIM to be able to. I don't know exactly what can and can't be dowsed. I don't believe all the claims of paper money, precious stones, gold, etc. What I know to be possible are water and oil. I have posted about this before.

If we are looking into the manufacture of LRLs (Long Range Locators) and MFDs (Multi Frequency Devices), we have only to look at the case of Dell Winders. A long time proponent and maker of LRLs. I don't wish ill fortune or health on ANYBODY, but it seems that since he has been touting for many years how effective his products were, and how so much wealth has been found with them, that it is crazy that he never used one for himself, and his health is now so bad that he has to ask for money from everybody on the forums. Why can't he just use one of his devices and get what he needs? And don't anybody hate on me for saying what everybody has been thinking. I personally like Dell. We have corresponded several times over the years, and I have never had any issues with him. The only times we were ever at odds was over his magical devices that claimed to be able to find almost anything. And yes, I will be donating some money to him as well. Like I said, I don't wish any ill on anybody, and I hate to see anyone in such a bad way. Everyone here should think to themselves "There, but for the grace of God, go I". Anybody could be in his situation, and we all hope that he does get better.

I'm not a LRL user, not making anything to sell, but do bend my own rods. There is no product or manufacturer for me to back up claims. I do know, from posts made by Dell, a couple years ago. Things were looking good for shipwreck exploration in the Bahamas. I'm thinking he had some type of boat there, it has been a while, haven't gone back to check it out. Things went sour in a hurry, the Bahamas got advice from Florida (from what I'd heard) then from bad to worse. To earn a living from treasure hunting is getting really tough, unless you have plenty of investors, that can be a situation also where someone has guaranteed income no matter the amount of finds.

Dowsing rods. I guess it would amount to how hard you are willing to work and if there is a large treasure you can get to in your area. All I can say is that using Dowsing rods and LRL are the only hobby I have had that paid all my expense…..Art

True! How can you expect to get anything out if you don't put any work in? Even if you don't find the "big one", you've gained a lot of knowledge and skills.

You know, I have to go back to the original question. How come dowsers aren't millionaires, and I have to ask How come coin shooters aren't millionaires? If you're into THing to make a stable living you're gonna be disappointed my friend. If you're into it to learn history, a new talent, see places and sights not many others have seen you're in luck! You've found a "hobby" that'll provide all that.

I spent around 20 years dredging for gold. It was for the most part being away from home for 6 months every summer. I missed a lot of family time. Sure I made money but what is money?...Money is only money. There is a lot of things better than money..Art

i deleted my post. I didn't initially realize I was posting in the dowsing forums. I was just browsing "New Posts" and assumed this was posted in the general forums.

i have no problem sharing my opinion on dowsing but I feel it is disrespectful to do it in the forum dedicated to it. My apologies.
