That was in Yokosuka, Japan. Almost got a tattoo that night but the Shore Patrol sent us back to our ships. :) Thank goodness!!

I was in boot camp when hostilities ended in Korea, with the end of the war, rates were frozen and I
didn't want to be a seaman with a hashmark, so got out. If I'd made 3rd class I'm sure I'd of shipped
over.

1978-82 , Navy , VA-65 , AT2 on the mighty A6 Intruder , Oceana Va. USS Dwight D Eisenhower. The first "West Pac Six Pack" on Gonzo Station. Recorded 152 days at sea in the IO while the hostages were being held in Iran.
Shellback and Blue nose. I still meet up every September with some of the "Family".
I can honestly say I didnt exactly love every day of it, but Im screaming proud that I did it then, and lucky I dont have to do it now. Seems as if they changed some of the rules since I left. They probably dont even have beer machines on the bases any more.
