A local coin dealer in my city says from 2 to 3 cents each. Any comments?

Thanks MIhunter

my LCS pays 3c each also.

A few years ago I sold a bunch of wheats to a guy I found on craigslist. He was offering 4c each. You may want to check that out because you could find another collector (instead of a dealer) who is willing to pay more.

You can likely beat the 3 cent each mark a tad on ebay, but keep in mind that ebay/PayPal fees will be 12.9% off the top.

Well I was thinking that wheats are easy to find. So if i get $100 worth in wheats at 3 cent each then you just have a good $200 profit correct? It is more profitable that any other coin. Correct???

Since you most likely will always find wheats in rolls

That's a pretty vague statement...not sure what you're asking exactly.

3 cents for generic ones. but LOTS of them pay more than that. I use this as a guide to what I SELL them for. (NOtice that most are 6 cents, but I don't think you can get that. Still, some are $1.40 or $0.85 or something like that. that makes a BIG difference when selling.)

Don't just consider the $200 as profit, but also as 200% percent profit. What other investment can offer you a 200% return on your money. Considering that you were finding those Wheats on a one by one rate, it's still a great return without a heavy cash outlay.

It is 200% profit...minus expenses.

Keep in mind that $100 in wheaties is 10,000 coins. That will take a lot of time and effort to accumulate. My boxes average less than 4 wheats per box. Even if you average 20 per box, thats still 500 boxes that will have to be searched to get to 10,000. If you average searching a box per day, every single day of every week, it will take nearly 1.4 years to accumulate those 10,000 wheaties. Searching the low-producing boxes in my area, it would take nearly 7 years to turn that $200 "profit."

How many trips to the banks to pick up and dump will be made while accumulating 10,000 wheats? Thats a lot of gas money. I venture to guess that after expenses, you'd be looking at a net loss.

Just some things to think about.

so how many will I have to sell to make a 1,000,000 ?
