How often do you ask for CWR?

I've found a couple banks in my area that do not return their halves from the coin counter machine to a depository. They instead keep the bags in their vault.

How often do I go to those banks and ask for those coins? I know it depends a lot on how many halves they get in...but...I"m weighing two sides.

On one hand, I don't want to let any finds slip away...so I want to go often.
On the other hand, I don't want to be "that guy" and annoy the tellers.

Opinions? How long before you guys go back to a bank to ask for their CWR and loose from the vault?

The absolute best scenario is that you "get in" good enough with a/the teller(s) and they call you when they have a full bag or get several rolls. Otherwise, its just a judgement call and a question that can't really be answered IMO.

In most cases, you are not being an annoyance by simply asking for half dollars. Most tellers, at least in my area, really don't like halves and are ecstatic to get rid of them.

It really varies. I missed a bag this week. The teller said she thought about calling me but thought $1,000 was more than I would want to buy that many. I let her know I would buy any amount she had. She is now going to call me when they fill a $500 bag and when they fill a bag of dimes if they don't need to roll them for their own use.

I agree with ArkieBassMan that the best way is to be the nice guy they want to help out. Talk to the teller that is the friendliest and let her/him know you would be interested in buying halves and ask if they would be willing to let you buy the bag when it is full. I try to ask about once a month how full the bag is. That way they remember you want the bag and when it gets to about $350 or $400 you can ask if they would mind if you brought in enough halves to fill the bag and buy it. I do that at several banks.
