How to find the 1974-D Doubled Die?

I have a decent stack of 1974-Ds from today's box, and was wondering what the best way to tell a doubled die from a regular one is. From the pictures I've seen, the difference appears to be the difference between regular type and bold type. A doubled die error is the only thing that can save this box from being a skunk box.

get a 16x magnification loop, thats what i use. then look at the word "TRUST" and the T and Y in LIBERTY, it will be obvious when you have one...hope this helps! good luck!

Regular type and bold type have nothing to do with it. Like chainchomp said, the doubling is most obvious on the word "trust".

The "st" in trust looks almost like its smeared or blurry or fudged. Sorry for the technical terms, but the ddo isn't as prominent as it is on other coins from what ive seen. Hope that helps and HH!

For me the things to look for are the spread points on the cross bar of the T, which on my find are not as easy to see because of coin wear. and the other is the doubling on the angled leg of the R

For me I see it as the doubling goes from left to right. Right on top. I've found two nice and one so so.
