Hi all, I live nearby many casinos. from my knowlege(I do not gamble), the casinos have mostly switched to automatic no-coin slot machines and whatnot. I do not know if the casinos have coin operated machines, but does anyone know if it is possible to buy casino coins from the casinos? Any tips would really help, thanks!!!

p.s. I have been reading older posts and back then (pages 60 and beyond on this forum), many people were getting casino coin.

Thanks all! :icon_sunny:

I live near many casinos as well. I've never tried to get coin from the casino directly but it might be something I'd like to hear more about. I DO however get a s***-ton of halves that have a smooth polished edge from being fed into the machines over and over. The casino might be a great way to purchase AND DUMP large quantities, of course you need to resist the urge to gamble.... It would seem to me they would have a machine that's culls silver, they can afford anything.

Dont live near any casinos but have managed to get numerous rolls from dfferent casinos.

You just get lucky when someone who brought some home [probably years ago] decides to bring them to the bank. A few had some 40% silver in them.

My casino experiences are as follows. When I got started in CRHing, there were plenty of casinos left that had not converted to all cash machines(paper receipts instead of coins). Several trips to Miss. filled my coffers with half dollar boxes. One casino loaned me a wheelchair to transport 10 boxes out to the car. Sadly, all of Miss is now paper receipts. So is Louisiana and Oklahoma which border me. My son and I set up a system where we would put a $100 bill into a 50 cent slot machine and hit the Collect button. You could hear the silver landing in the coin tray. We would pick out the silver and take the large plastic cups full of clad halves back to the cashier for more cash. We spent hours in there and they loved us. I now have 2 Indian casinos an hour from my house and both of them are paper receipts. They both also have coinstar machines for dumba$$es to dump their coins into. Jim

I have no urge to gamble whatsoever, I guess I am a cheap person, better in my pocket than theirs. I do get 3-5 rolled edge(smoothe edged) halves per roll, sometimes less, sometimes more. I do not think they have anything to do with the casino business though because those coin counters and sorters really damage the edges and faces of the coins.

You can usually tell a coin that has seen its day in the machine wrapped world not only by the edge but by the smoothness and lack of shinyness.

I got a half dollar the other day from a roll, edge looked perfectly fine in reguards to machine rolled edges, cannot even read the date or mintmark, can barely see kennedy's head. it is however a copper nickel half. interesting, I usually do not keep worn common coins, but this one is just odd.

I have also noticed some nickels looking like they have been machine rolled to much as well.
