Hay MM,

I assume you have a Silver uMax.

You are not doing a good set-up.

The disc level knob should be all the way to the left,
or all the way down, as you would say. That is the disc
knob. You are cutting out most good targets.

The other knob,

the sensitivity knob should be turned as high as you
can without having false signals. That is usually about
7. But it could be higher or lower. I start on about 9.
If that is too hot, I will back off.

The way you had it set, you cut the depth and sensativity
to the lowest level.

Using any disc on the Silver will cut out many valuable
relics.

In heavy trash, it takes experience. As a mater of fact,
practice is just what you need.

So, enjoy,

Tabdog

it is a cutlass II u max it only makes about 3 different tones 1 for good 1 for iron 1 for nothing or because it can

I've had several Tesoros and mainly dig for civil war and earlier relics. I would agree with Tabdog about the sensitivity.Keep it up as high as you can. Turn it up until it chatters then cut it back a bit. In places with a lot of iron I turn my discriminator up to where it will just cut off on a nail. That way you won't be as likely to miss gun parts or tools or other good iron relics.
What do you mean it had a tone for nothing does it just give signal for no rason at all. If so there is something wrong with it. I could be it's picking up hot rock but I can't say for sure.
