how to use mercury to remove gold from black sand

I know mercury is a good way to remove gold from balck sand. i was thinking about getting some but i have no idea how to use it to remove gold from black sand with it. I DO know the dangers and I DO know how to handle and store it thats not a problem. anyone have a method that works?

ahem, no matter how know about the dangers, mercury is not a good idea.
Just as good, and requiring no raw materials, is to use a small shaking table.
You can buy one from Keene Inc or even build one yourself. Let me know if you want plans for a shaking table.
