Polishing will really kill the value. Any rubbing or abrasive cleaning is a no no.
 

Cant see how I have Killed the value any, I did use baking soda And Do Not recommend this on a High Dollar coin. But though this is Key date, it is not a 1000 dollar coin and could have never been in this dug condition. RUINED? I Think Not, Dimminished value? I think not, Any More Valuable? i think not

Cleaning coins....especially valueable coins, is a big no no. It's not about what you can see with the naked eye. Its about what you can see under extreme magnification. If you have no plans to sell it then fine. Otherwise cleaning a coin will certainly de-value it.

If you are not going to sell it, and you just want it to look pretty.....Tarn-X is the way to go on silver.
It is liquid.

You just dip the coin in it for a few seconds and then rinse it with hot water for a few moments to get off any of the Tarn-X.

Then just tamp it dry with a clean, dry cloth. There is no need to rub it...it will be as shiny as it is ever going to get!

If you aren't worried about the value use some silver polish, works really well but you are effectively taking the surface layer off the coin. A dealer will see the abrasive marks (which aren't really visible to the naked eye if you go easy) and your coin will have no value.
If it's just for your collection and you like shiny coins for your personal enjoyment, I say "Go for it mate"

That discoloration looks like only some calcium buildup. Dilute your favorite
calcium remover (Do not use full strength) in a plastic cap and have several
Q-tips handy. Gently go round & round with wet Q-tip till calcium dissapears.
Wash several times w/distilled water and air dry holding with clean fingers close
to light bulb.
