How you find 100 silver's in 8 months

For people who are starting to detect..... it takes a lot of digging, good and bad, to find silver... Find a location, where there may be silver... this is very important, but, lets look at the other stuff....

First, you need to dig a bucket and a half of misc. scrap metal objects... not every target will be good....make sure you don't re-bury them... take them home and re-cycle...




Aside from the scrap metal, you will dig a bucket of copper and a bucket of brass..... these you can sell to a metal recycler for cash, to buy other detecting equiptment ..

Then , in order to get your quality silver, you must dig enough clad coins, junk jewelry and misc. good stuff to over flow your treasure chest...




After, all this, thousands of digs.... you end up with 100 pcs of silver.....




Metal detecting, is exercise without thinking about exercising, and is the best way to see nature close up and get your mind off anything that might be bothering you.... Be healthy, have fun, enjoy detecting and may God Bless

Now nobody can be calling you a cherry picker, congrats on the totals and the scrap bins.
So many just throw the bits and pieces away thinking of it as junk, while keeping the coinage. Many times that hunk of brass, copper, and even lead will be more valuable than any piece of clad.

A few answer's for my post:

I am retired, so , I have time.... But, I only detect mornings, so I can visit my wife every day, at the nursing home in the afternoon. (She has Alzheimer's ) Make sure you spend some time every day with family.

I don't detect many virgin sight's... My sights are all picked out sight's, someone already "cherry picked" all the larger silver... that's why I have so many dime's. I work hard digging the deeper tone's. Pulling Indians and the Standing Liberty's from deep down.

I never ask to detect someone's front yard... Too many skunks, pull my plug's out and I feel bad about leaving a yard with dying plugs.

But, now that I'm older and wiser... LOL (66)

I will ask more permission's for virgin sights.

Using a trowel and cutting hinged plug's that are much better at staying alive and in the hole.

I bought some "Fox Urine" at my sporting good store... When digging in a manicured lawn, I will put a drop of the fox urine, on the plug when finished... the skunks and raccoon's will smell the fox and leave town.. and leave my damn plug in the hole... LOL

If I can expand a bit on your post. Research has a huge part in finding that many silvers. Last summer I hit a spot that had less than 10 clad coins over 300 silver coins and over 100 pieces of silver jewelry along with 50 pieces of gold. They are still out there hiding. There are old swim areas everywhere.

If I can locate with help a spot that has not been hunted, I don't see why it isn't possible elsewhere.

Wow. ScubaDetector... yeah, your sooo right.... I bought a water machine 3 years ago and will start using soon... my closes beach is 3 hours away though... but, old swimming area's are every where... I just thought of one, I should check... thanks and yes, Gold, is much better than Silver....

It's easy to forget how much work goes into finding a few keepers when you see all the excellent post and videos on just the highlights of each hunt.
