Huge Mistake on my part

I have used Chase exclusively as my dump bank for 5 years in my town. There are 3 actual bank buildings and 1 center in a grocery store in this little town. I have always asked for coins at the grocery store location but never at the dump banks. Since I was using them a dump asking for coins to me was kind of dumb since they saw me weekly dumping anywhere from $500 to $1000 in halves and sometimes $2,000. So today at the location I like to go as it is closest to my house I plop my $1,000 bag on the counter and start the normal small chit chat to the teller I normally see. Somewhere in the short conversation I asked do you ever get customer rolls turned in of halves? He said not normally, just you with the bags except last week a lady came in with a box of old halves in really old rolls. She had $300 worth so I took them. He said his job was to open them up and put them into a bag for shipping out. He said they had eagles and a lot were of Benjamin Franklin and some were Kennedy's, but they were really old looking. My jaw dropped and I said are they gone now? Oh yes they were here last week when you dropped off your bag but went out this week. I said oh man I would have loved to get those, and he looks me right in the eye and said, why, you bring them in here all the time and why would you want to buy from us and then bring them back in? I had to think to myself I never ever said I was hunting for any old coins, or why I always had coins to dump. I never let him know I was going through bags and boxes hunting for exactly what he had in his hands and sent away. So I said if you EVER get anything like that again, I will make it worth your while to set them aside and let me get them. He said OK he would....so I miss out on a possible score that would have made me smile for weeks!

There's also an excellent chance he was just messing with you. If you dumped up to $2k in halves per week on me for the last five years, I would probably mess with you too.

Hi is a pretty nice young man, maybe 20ish and I'm sure by the way he described to me the coins he was telling me the truth, but ya never know. The commercial girl takes the bag and he is the normal person to hand me the cash back, so he isn't being really bothered by my dumping there. I had thought of switching my buy bank to Chase just in case but decided against that for now. It is just so easy to use them as my dumping grounds I hate to mess that up.
