Here's a "prediction" : gas prices will skyrocket through the holiday weekend (blamed on Gustav of course), Gustav turns or dies out, oil companies sh*#-eating grin gets bigger just like their pockets.....


Seriously though - if Gustav does take a turn for the worse (towards the coast) like the meteorologists are predicting, please be safe out there.

If it behaves like Fay, it will get to the Gulf, hang a hard right and here we go. The initial prediction with Fay was a straight to slight east turn. She got to Key West and hung a hard right. I have watched so many of these that right now I would expect it to go about anywhere after it gets to the Gulf.

Hang on tight for the next few days folks. We are in for a ride! Good luck to everybody.

I agree with Da Chief. Once its trapped inside the Gulf pocket its gonna roll over somebody just to get out...because they never go back where they came from. Just hope it doesnt strengthen to a killer storm.

I just checked the history of August Hurricanes since 1850. Every one of them but two in all those years hit Florida. Most of them were on the same initial path as Gustav is at this time.

Doesn't look like history is on our side.

Yea Rubber boats and beer.. First thing they do in Currituck county NC is close all alcohol sales at like twelve noon a day or two before arrival to stop all the silly alcohol induced thrill seekers from doing silly stuff (not first word choice) I'm usually well stocked up I do remember driving down to check my boat out (all roads were closed) and a BP gas station blow across the road right in front of my truck and disintegrated in the wind whoo hoo fun times !!!

Yep! Don't take down those hurricane shutters just yet, looks like the hurricane season is starting to really heat up for us. Fay was a bust for beach erosion on the Space & Treasure Coast. However, Hanna looks like it has some potential for erosion.

Just tuning in...everyone stay safe regardless where any of the storms go. Shanegalang posted this website last night under the LA thread. It was my 1st time seeing this particular site and I have to say what he stated...one of the best. I'm saving it to my favorites, so I will always have it, seems I'm getting better results from this than the weather channel. http://www.bearpawsweather.com/tropical/index.html Regardless to where Gustav hits it will cause damage, it's only 3 years tomorrow that Katrina hit and I still see results everywhere I look.

I'm not looking forward to this thing, but I'm prepared.

Hope you are not suggesting that this hurricane is some how our fault.
