Yea Rubber boats and beer.. First thing they do in Currituck county NC is close all alcohol sales at like twelve noon a day or two before arrival to stop all the silly alcohol induced thrill seekers from doing silly stuff (not first word choice) I'm usually well stocked up I do remember driving down to check my boat out (all roads were closed) and a BP gas station blow across the road right in front of my truck and disintegrated in the wind whoo hoo fun times !!!

The Weather Channel is also tracking two more potential storms after Gustav! Crazy s#$* I tell ya'.

We were warned this would happen.

Hope you are not suggesting that this hurricane is some how our fault.

No I wouldnt want to go there. Im merely stating that we were warned of increasing tropical activity.

They have to predict a cat 4 or cat 5 storm hitting New Orleans after blowing it before. They don't want their funding cut or their leaders replaced. When the storms get that large, they aren't effected by other weather anymore. It could get to the center of the gulf and turn around and go back and get Cuba if it wanted to, if it's a cat 5 storm.

If it goes to Category 5 (or even 4 for that matter) it won't have to turn around to hit Cuba. It could turn towards Florida and take Cuba with it. Let's all just hope it weakens by some miraculous intervention and/or does minimal damage (trying to be optimistic here...).

Yes, I meant Florida isn't off the hook if it does go to cat 5. All their models show relatively straight lines, but after they go to cat 5, they can do all kinds of crazy loops and circles. So, even if it goes past Florida it could turn and come back. Hopefully they are erring on the side of caution and it wont get that strong. I don't think the last hurricane stirred up the gulf much to cool down the water though and there's alot of gulf to strengthen on. Time to dig a deep hole and put the bicycle helmet and safety glasse on?

They have been pretty good with predictions lately but we have to watch it. The one Im watching here in Florida is Hanna.

Gustave is a serious Cat 3 headed for New Orleans. Roads go out but no longer can you go in. An amazing 34 foot high waves measured near the eyewall! That is some storm surge. Get out of Gustaves path everybody please!
