Ok, granted, it's not a honker, but beggars can't be choosers.

Best I can tell, it's a service pin.... 3 rubies, based on other threads and research, I'd guess that each ruby represents 5 years.

There wasn't a pin in the back, but it looks like a clasp was broken off from the top.

Only question I got....what company?

While we're at it..... guess the year of the wheat.

Your pin is exactly what I have in my wifes jewelry box. I retired from the telephone company and received one of these every 5 years. That company was The United Telephone Co. of Pa. It is gold and they are real rubies. Some of my later ones have small diamonds in them. It is actually a tie tac and would have had a sharp stick pin sticking straight out of the back. I just got done hunting for at least one of these tie tacs in my wifes jewelry boxes and there is none to be found. Some time ago she went through all her jewelry and gave everything away to our kids and grandkids that she didn't want, so I think my tie tacs are now grandkids souvenirs. I even checked all my ties thinking one might be still on a tie, but no luck. I do guarantee that is what you found. The only difference is mine were engraved with UTI on the top gold squares, for United Telecommunications Inc.
