I can't believe I found this in my backyard ! Value / Time Period ??

I was getting the "detector bug" in me today, so I went in my backyard for about 45 minutes.

I can't beleive I found a silver half dollar and a silver dime ( I beleive it's silver). If so, it will be the first real silver I ever found. I found more in 45 minutes then I usually do when I go on long distance hunts.

Does anyone know how old the half dollar is and is it real silver? Is the dime real silver? I wasn't sure what the time cutoffs were for coins being made of silver. My house was made in the 1950's.

The White's DFX-300 is a great machine and the new Sunray Probe I just bought is unbeleivable.

Go over your yard again. Try to do the sweeps from a different angle, and go ssssslllllllooooooowwwwwwww. Probably some more in it.

Yep they are 90% silver, your half looks to be a 1941p and to see your dimes mint mark,
turn it over and look at the base of the torch. If there is a d or an s, if nothing than its a p.

nickels = 1942-1945 are 35% silver
dimes + quarters = 1964 and before are 90% silver
halfs = 1964 and before are 90% silver
halfs = 1965-1970 are 40% silver

You got a great start to the hobby C! Hopefully there may be more. You may want to check on your neighbors' yards. Weather is turning for the better in our area. We should plan a hunt sometime.

1941 walking liberty half and a silver rosie...nice
