There will be many more hikes in the short term.The retail price of gas in PA has now exceeded the previous record high set in 2008.
Oil reached $147 a barrel in summer of 2008. The global recession in late 2008 caused demand to drop and oil prices collapsed to @ $30, crushing segments of the US oil industry.
It's at $114+ today. I'll let you do the math to adjust for inflation... Increasing demand as we try to climb out of the pandemic along with current geopolitical events is driving US oil producers to crank up the pumps once again. But that sort of thing doesn't happen overnight. I think we need to settle in for a long summer - at home...
