On my way to an old school yard today, I saw 2 vacant lots, and decided to put off the school for later. The first lot was a complete bust, nothing but nails and can shreds, the second was a completely different story! I found this bank in a corner of the old yard, about 10" down, I thought at first it was just an old can, because all I could see was the rusty bottom, but then I pulled it out, and I'll let the pics tell the rest!!! The tag reads "WASHINGTON MUTUAL SAVINGS BANK C-0879 SEATTLE WASH"

When I got it home and cleaned it up, I could hear the coins rattling inside, I popped the bottom off and found 3 silver dimes, a 46 and 54 Rosie, and a 44 merc, 2 wheats 41 and 47, and a '40 nickel.

The coins cleaned off great, I think because there was no dirt in the bank. Not sure if this counts as a "cache" but it really got me going!!! I'm headed back tomorrow!

That's pretty neat Ken....Congrat's on the silver, save you some digging anyway!!!

What a cool find.
To bad there wasn't more.
Finding the Merc would have been enough for me actually.
Nice.

Buried...More than one coin ...together in a container...yep...it's definitely a cache in my book. Great finds!

Ken, that was really amazing!

I hope that would be an unearthed bank rather than just a buried cache that you have found...
Poor little 60 year old coins if they are just left undiscovered...

Congrats, cant wait to hear from your tomorrow's find...

Congrats Ken on you're find. It's the bank that's the true Treasure! Hope you can clean it up. HH

Yeah the coins are just coins, pretty common, and not the main find. I really like the little bank itself, and I plan to keep the coins with it, and one day display them all together. I love finding coins, and things with monetary value, but strange little relics with known or unknown stories are still my favorite things to find.

Awesome find and great story Ken. Congrats on the neat old bank and fine coins. I'd say cache for sure.

Coins put into container. Container buried or hidden. Sounds like a cache to me!!!
