On my way to an old school yard today, I saw 2 vacant lots, and decided to put off the school for later. The first lot was a complete bust, nothing but nails and can shreds, the second was a completely different story! I found this bank in a corner of the old yard, about 10" down, I thought at first it was just an old can, because all I could see was the rusty bottom, but then I pulled it out, and I'll let the pics tell the rest!!! The tag reads "WASHINGTON MUTUAL SAVINGS BANK C-0879 SEATTLE WASH"
When I got it home and cleaned it up, I could hear the coins rattling inside, I popped the bottom off and found 3 silver dimes, a 46 and 54 Rosie, and a 44 merc, 2 wheats 41 and 47, and a '40 nickel.
The coins cleaned off great, I think because there was no dirt in the bank. Not sure if this counts as a "cache" but it really got me going!!! I'm headed back tomorrow!
