I was walking through an abandoned farm in the area of the Ambler Pa. train wreck of 1856 a kicked what I thought was a rock, but it was this thing. My guess is some type of lock? It says ' Champion 6-Lever" on the front and I'm guessing made of brass? Still has a lot of dirt in it. Any idea's?

Yes, it is an old padlock. Nice find!

That's a cool find!

I can't wait to hit it with my detector tomorrow

This is the top of it, looks like some type of sliding mechanism pops out? I have to find a way to get all the dirt out of it. It's really heavy

This looks like maybe a key hole on the bottom

I wish I knew more about it. Somebody said they were used mainly by railroads and canals?

Hey Ryan that is pretty cool looking. Hopefully you will have some luck there and we will have a new group hunt!

Nice find, I'd be checking that place in depth for possibly many more old finds :)
