The finds weren't much, but I did get the Hubby another keeper, I bet you can figure this one out.

I had a ball! After having my Father in-law her for 15 days and some of his friends for 4 days, I needed to get out! :D So I guess what I'm saying (especially for the new folks) is you can't find a banner find every time, heck you'll be lucky if you ever do. But to get out there, discover whatever tiny piece of history you can, enjoy the peace, the thrill of the hunt, and above all else have some fun? I'm all over it! :)

So my day........I only had a couple hours, so I hit a foundation I thought would be productive? No real good hits, found a bunch of old barb wire fence and some "square fencing" that would drive you nuts, a rusty bucket, an old shovel minus the handle, the find of the half hour.....a couple old nails. :D

I really wanted to get back to the Grist mill and search some more around that old well. Drove the 1/4 mile and found these young turkeys in the field. I only could see their heads poking above the grass, I had to stop and get you some pictures. :) Now if there is a well there must have been a structure right? I've been trying to find the path from the house to the well. Got a great silver hit between a rock and a large tree near the well, yeah I got a little excited thinking, maybe just maybe.....the home owners buried "something" there? I dug and I dug for this silver looking squashed thingy. :D Taking my time, I ventured a little further and sure enough found some old brick and mortar, sweet! Got a decent hit on the detector.......fund a cache of nails, alright a pocket spill. :D Some old glass and pottery, the hole was full of "Foundation" pieces. Bummer, curfew was up! :( Can't make the Hubby worry. :-\

I really can't wait to get back there, even if the finds weren't the best. It was a great day! :)

It looks like you really had a fantastic day and a great place to hunt, or to just take a walk with the camera! :icon_sunny:

Kim,
Glad you survived the company of you in/outlaws.lol Now that's some purdy country.
That mill site has got to produce some silver or maybe a gold. I sure hope so.
Great pic's.
Joe

Beeeeeeeutifullllllllllllllllll country, where is that?

Good Post CG, hope your next trip to the site will produce a old copper or silver for you and a few good relics from 18th or 19th century, sure looks like it should. Can't say you did not dig all signals, since you are digging the items most would not, so no fear, a copper is near! :)

You have some beautiful countryside in your neck of the woods and cool that you got pics of the Turkeys, I have not run across any younguns this summer yet, but also not out as much anymore.

Well said CG.

That place looks fantastic for finding some old relics. You're finding iron, so that's a good sign. Keep at it, and I'm sure we'll be seeing some really goodies come out of there. Great pictures. Thanks for the post.

Thanks folks!

Joe, Surviving was close! Yeah there has got to be something there.

Digger, I'll never tell! :D Western Mass.

Don, I'm hoping so! I figure if I take it "slow" and dig every signal, I'll get me one of those coppas one of these days. Yeah it sure was a pretty day to be out on those dirt country roads. The turkeys didn't even mind my company when I got out of the car. They were a bonus for the day.

MM, Thanks! I will definitely keep at it.

Hey Girl, anytime you find pottery and nails you know you are going to find something good. But, what a great place. Just a really nice place to get away for a while. Thanks for sharing.

Great finds and post!   Time spent with Mother Nature is the real treasure. About 60 years ago in a small town in Oregon, I caught a small turkey chick in the woods. Ended up being one of the best pets I've ever had. Followed me everywhere in that town like a dog. Would fly up and ride my shoulder when it got tired of walking. Great pic's! Thanks for sharing.

Great pics and post Country Girl
A good time for sure.

Thanks sndman, I am hoping there will be something to make you folks proud.

Half, 60 years ago? :o  What a great story, sounds like something I would do. My mother would probably have drawn the line on a turkey though. :D

Thanks Merf! It was fun.

That looks like a great place to sit and unwind even without a detector.

Thanks for posting.
