My wife and I went to our local supermarket, and on the way back to the car, my wife spotted a wedding ring lying in the parking lot. It looks like copper but has a sorta rosie tint to it. My question is has anybody ever seen a copper wedding ring before? If it isn't copper, what could it be? Red brass? There are no markings on it at all except scratches.

I know that a lot of people wear copper for health reasons. Maybe that was the case with your wife's find.

There is such a thing as rose gold which is a the same as yellow gold but with a higher copper content. Based on the photos, I would be surprised if it's rose gold, but it's possible.

I would go with Copper. There are all kinds of copper items out there to help with bad joints and muscles. Tommy Copper items for knees, etc. The person may have had bad knuckles or arthritis in their fingers, and the copper ring may have helped with the pain.

Whatever it is, I just put an ad on the local lost & found bulletin board hoping the owner will claim it.

I had also put a bulletin about the found ring on the community board inside the store where I found it.

Today, I got a call from the store โ€“ they had somebody at customer service counter looking for a ring they lost while putting groceries in the car.
After a brief conversation, I determined the ring I found was the one they lost. It has now been returned to its rightful owner .. Happy ending for all! :occasion14:

I think it may well have been. It had a very nice luster to it.

I purchased some gold coins at a bank in Austria years ago that were the same colour as the ring. A lot of gold from Europe has that red tint to it. I would say the ring is gold.

I would do a quick stop at the jewelry store and have them test it, that will settle the question of what it is, and they will do it for free..or even a pawn shop.

It could be either, looks a little thick for copper pipe in the second set of picture. but I do see a seam? If it is gold and not marked, which is very rare, then that may date the gold ring to 1907 or before. Good Luck and settle this mystery...
