I have no clue other than it has JAPAN stamped in yellow ink. I'm not sure if it's a cover or a plate/pan to go under a vessel.

It looks like a display stand for a Japanese vase or something similar. Those with holes in the middle were usually for planters but also used for ceramic vases in general and things like fish-bowls.



Some have feet, and some not; some are two-piece with a platform below; some sit on a small frame in the manner of a tripod.
