Being very curious and not knowing squat about buttons, what's the significance of the ones with the NC, G and 1? Inferior minds want to know! M ;) nty

Now what was that odd ball rebel button doing in with all those yankee buttons ? That sure came out beautiful ! You figure that was a place they tossed ruined jackets or something ?

I don't know what the "NC" stands for on the one button but as the talk has been going it seems to be Confederate and I would venture a guesstimate that it has something to do with North Carolina. The other two are not a "G" and a "1" but a "C" and an "I" and they stand for Cavalry and Infantry.

I love finding buttons........That's one great haul.......congrats

Holy crap MARC :o :o :o GREAT job man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is one heck of a spot that you have there. I cannot believe all of those come from one spot. And WOW what a beautiful NC 'starburst' button...that is one to salivate over ;) Now that qualifies for what I call a certified "honey hole!"

Looks like a great day of detecting to me..........Congrats!

doesn't beat the disme you found 8)

:o

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It isn't like we find any of that kind of thing up here, but I am sure you have made some folks envious. I do know that I see when people find ONE good button they post it here. THAT is one heck of a haul.
WTG!

WOW, that's a huge haul of buttons! I don't ever recall anyone finding so many at one time.

How close were they? Any fibers attached? We'd love to hear the details!

Marc, I would even give away my own MOTHER INLAW for a digging day like the one you had ;D

WOW!! I have found an eagle button but it was smashed pretty bad. I wish I could find a site like that near me. Great job!

GO GO GO ...GET back out there right now, because that is just the beginning!
I would be in button heaven, and I probably would of had to sleep there so I could hunt more the next day, no telling what else you will find. :o

Mark,
Great digs and just live around the corner from you in Ferry Farms. If you need another seasoned detector hanging around give me a holler, if not thats OK I'll understand.
I found many buttons this spring myself but it took a few weeks at the same location,colonials,4 buckles, 2 calvary sword plates,2 infantry ,3 State of Virginia buttons, a New York artillery solid copper button, very odd, Officers tunic button State of Wisconsin thats an odd bird let me tell ya,a half dime and many more also a 1773 Real minted Mexico off Rt 17.Mostly on private property with permission of course

Anyway email me and we can kick around some war stories.
Oh by the way the Half Dis-me was the best find of all, I think that was your find?
Keep up the good work and keep us posted with the new stuff
