I need help! What should i buy?

Hi I have absolutely ZERO experience in gold prospecting. I am on here simply to here people's thoughts and opinions with regards to which machine I should buy, for deep cache treasure. Here it goes:
My father swears he knows where about there is buried treasure, I have tried to convince him to forget about it because quite frankly the machines I've seen are quite expensive not only that but we've never used a detector. So we'd have learn as we go per say. I have put it off for some time, but he want a machine now, so I'm asking for all the honest help I can get.
My father claims he needs something that'll detect up to 2 meters deep ( 6 ft or so ).
The Jeotech Ultra Deep Gold Cavity Detector got my attention it claims it detects up to 4 meters (12ft) $ 1,999.99
Before I pull the trigger on this machine I decided I'd ask for your input. Please help thanks, Raul.

I have a Hays 2 Box that I bought for around $200. It has found caches at 6'. It also has the advantage that it won't pick up small junk like nails, pulltabs, etc. Look on the classifies here and on E Bay. Just make sure it is a transistor model and not an old tube model. Frank...

I've got the same question like rudyman219. I have this crazy uncle, who wants to go deep. He needs a detector with average depth around 1.5-2.0 meters. Any examples of that kind detectors will be appreciated.

do you bring a back ho ? really no one detects like that or even digs that deep unless its a known real deal down there .

As a rule I dont dig till Im sure there is something there. Frank gave some good advice, and Terry has hands on. I would not dig a 5 foot hole unless I was really boared. I have many places that may hold something. Here is a test you will want to do with what ever you decide to use. See how far it can penetrate solid rock. Most of the holes I see have a flat rock about a foot down. Not too many machines gonna punch through that. You are better off with a cordless drill and long bit. Good luck.

Let say it that way, I know approx. in radius of 30 meters that there is smth down there, but I think that Hays 2 Box can't detect it, a need smth more than 6-10-12" and believe me, I will dig like crazy if I detect it, even it's 10 foot deep
I know it's a booring to give a simple tips for noobies with zero experience like myself, but I'll appreciate a single hint from where I can start searching for the right machine...

Let say it that way, I know approx. in radius of 30 meters that there is smth down there, but I think that Hays 2 Box can't detect it, a need smth more than 6-10-12" and believe me, I will dig like crazy if I detect it, even it's 10 foot deep
I know it's a booring to give a simple tips for noobies with zero experience like myself, but I'll appreciate a single hint from where I can start searching for the right machine...

Here is my tip Tony: Rent a backhoe. There is no commercially available metal detector that will hit 10' deep.

You need to learn to dowse then. I know I've been other simple very effective way to do it but I'll leave you with this

Wow, over $2k and it looks like a regular detector" My German is Nonexistent" so I couldn't read the specs. I just checked out my old $200+ Hays and it still does better than 6' and it only used 2 9v Batteries. Frank...
