i need help

me and a friend here in michigan want to buy a detector
i would be using it for shallow water lake hunting and he would be using it when he went diving
i would also like to use it in salt water conditons when i go on vacation, we each are going to put in 500 dollars so price shouldnt be much of an issue, what detector would you recomend

There is only one that is worth considering, the Excalibur II. I use the Tiger Shark and the CZ20 also for diving.

Go with the excalibur. I own and use a Garrett Sea Hunter, but I dig a lot of trash. The discriminator on the Excal is worth its weight in unicorn poo.

Just a word of caution. I've seen many a great friendship go down the tubes over partnerships in toys. boats, aircraft, campers and yea, even MD's. A good friend is hard to find so consider the possibility before jumping into it. Just a suggestion.
