It was another successful trip across the bridge to meet up with Iron Patch for some detecting. Before going over I e-mailed that my optimistic goal was for an 8 reale or a cannonball and that my realistic goal was for a musket part such as a ramrod thimble. Well I did not meet my optimistic goals but did get the musket part. I was thrilled to see this come out of the ground…and in one piece. It is an escutcheon plate from a British musket! This was found at one of the two new sites along with the little navy button. I also found a piece of a musket side plate at another location with VII scratched into it.

We also hit some old favorites where I picked up the majority of the goodies. The fish scales all came from one field (love the Newfie) as did the silver art deco brooch. The brooch was bent in two places but with a little care I was able to get it straight!

The coins are varied and for the most part in decent condition. The Geo. III is legible and the 1815 British Copper token is one of the best I have found. Thanks for looking!

HI ,,Great finds. I found a buckel just like the one you found with some of the silver still on it. Could you please tell me how old it might be and what it was used for Thanks

Looks like a harness buckle...early 20th century. Thanks for looking.
