Can we see it with the nickel next to it. A half cent (on right) is slightly larger than a nickel. A large cent is significantly larger than a nickel (on left).

Could it be a 2 cent piece???

By the way, some large cents are bigger then others. They generally get larger in diameter as they get older. Most coin books have the measurements listed. A braided hair half cent is 23mm in diameter.

A 2 cent piece is also 23mm. Exactly the same diameter as a braided hair half cent. The word "cents" on the back of a 2 center would be smaller than the word "cent" on the back of a half center. I cant really make out enough detail to tell. It does look kind of like a 2 center. Tough to tell with the corrosion.

I think it is a two cent piece i thought I could see the shield on the front if I held it to the light just right.

Peroxide method will allow you to identify it.

One or Two Center T-Bucket....It's all good.Definetley try the peroxide bath in cleaning and preservation by Don in SJ.....might do you some good.Good luck and keep us posted.

Thanks everyone for the input,Its not a large cent but its old and I found it.HA HA and it is worthless as cash value. But maybe I might find his brother.

Did you alread identify it?
