Got these two barber dimes at a permission I have it’s a 1910 built house on Spirit Lake in Idaho , so cool I have been detecting for 15-20 years and only have two barbers in my collection and today I got two 1907s ,1911s, also a v nickel 1911 , Which now I have only found three in my lifetime.so great day . living most of my life in San Diego going metal detecting was always easy and plentiful at the beaches. Kind of stayed out of the parks and relic site. No need. It is definitely a lot harder to find good stuff when there’s no beach for 1400 miles. But I am learning and it’s a lot of fun.

Yes, both dimes are in excellent condition. The v-nickel cleaned up’s nice also Both those times are in better shape than any mercury. I pulled out in years so I was very excited.

The nickel once I got it home and soap and watered it turned out very nice. Had a lot of detail. I gave it to the lady who owns the house. It was made the same year. Her house was .
both those dimes were found by the back porch of a non-existing house. May have been covered for 100 years.

I have found 3V nickels in my area up here and all three seem to fair better than most people think the nickels are supposed to be. I guess I don’t find enough of them to know. Northern Idaho must be good on v’s. The silver always turned out perfect.

Nice going! As others have noted, that soil was kind to those coins, especially that nickel. I have only found a few V nickels, each of which could not hold up to even a gentle toothpicking. Congrats!

Please learn to NOT wipe dirt off silver coins as it scratches them! I know how it is...you want to know what year, etc. Please wait until you get home, soak in soapy warm water, then use a soft toothbrush under running water and then if you find that 16d or other key date coin, it will have significant numismatic value.

I think so ,i thought the 07 was in better shape ,they’re both nice ,can’t wait to take the new deus 2 coil in that spot. There is so much iron. It sounds like a machine gun. This used to be a railroad station logging plant a lot of nuts and bolts and nails. I think because our soil drains so fast up here it drains down to 3 feet in a heartbeat. Maybe it’s just not time in the wet to affect the coins. I don’t know but they turn out pretty good up here. But I don’t have any friends up here and it is hard to get permissions so I’m learning.
