I was out early because of the summer temps we have. 2 1/2 hrs in the morning sun on a field i hadn't on the screen till now.
When i walked the dog last week i noticed a few roman pot shards and roof tile frags. It's a tiny field about 1.3 acre. Starting on the southern edge towards the area the pot shards lay the third signal was something looking like junk aluminum from a twist of top. But too heavy and wrong colour. Completely flattened and folded over gold wedding band. Can't read the engraving, looks like T.MO. .MSV?? 97 By the type of the characters i say 1897. No need to investigate for an owner...
Other finds were some buttons, 17/1800s coins, rein guide, pistol balls, crucifix and a tooth. No roman finds (metal) but it's possible the site is in one of the neighboring fields. Time will tell.

Maybe your work has firewalls setup to keep people from looking at detecting porn :dontknow:

Thanks Cru, there must be a roman settlement somewhere. Most in this area were small and meager as are the finds. But i like to complete the records of the sites there.

"P.M.O.M.G.V. 5/6 97" What am I looking at, and what do the letters/numbers mean? Gary

Letters may be the initials of the couple with 5/6 97 as wedding day. 1897 most likely because of the letters being "Sütterlin script". Sütterlin is an outdated German writing style and was in use in the 1800s.
