IH's, Shield Nickel, Silver, Carriage Plate, Buttons - new colonial home site!
Earthworks and I got permission from the homeowner (herself a history buff) to detect her home which the original part was built in the 1750's. Home has two additions built during the 1800's. Its a farm house located on 120 acres in Dutchess County, NY. We only dug one side of the house on our first outing ... concentrating on the side where the carriages used to pull up and drop/pickup passengers. The shield nickle below has no date. We were not able to find any historical reference to the "carriage plate" which obviously fell off at some point.
Enjoy!
