Started this week off with the girls day out. Four girls diggin up Cullman!
Found a bunch of change a heart and a kiddie ring. One little spot had seven quarters and a couple of them had been hit by the lawnmower. Can't believe I found both halves. Had LOTS of fun!
Next couple of days I spent revisiting some of my favorite spots....
The only thing exciting about this trip was the barn was stocked and like me, ready for winter!
Went up to the church one day to mosey around and take in the view, nothing but change, but spotted this poor tree! :P
Then back to the ballpark. Decided that since I had already hit every park in the area, I may as well go to the boys field. I found one silver ring that had been hit by the lawnmower
a little heart locket and $4.00.
This morning Lisa and I went to a new site that we had permission for. Looking over all the old maps there appeared to never had been any structures there, but thought we'd try anyhow. And as expected it was pretty quiet.
But...ya never know till ya try.
We decided to hit the old 'hunted out' site. Riding up the dirt road we noticed something different about the historical house that's being renovated.
I recommend that unless you are a lumberjack, leave it alone! :P Yep...a do-it-yourselfer! What a shame. Totally ruined the house.
I bet this tree was over 200 years old! Now it's gone and so the house will be too.
After getting over the shock of seeing this we went down to the 'cut-out' spot. Wasn't there but maybe five minutes and got one of those hits that seem strange, but you just have to dig it to see what it is. Reads iron, then a bleep of something positive. Three inches it says, so I dig. Most of you know what I have had on my "GOTTA FIND" list for the year.....AND I FOUND IT!!!
FINALLY!!! I dig the hole...see a bit of silver....looks like the size of a dime. I start yelling for Lisa and she comes running over. I can't see worth anything so I hand it to her and impatiently wait for her to tell me..."Well..it's a dime alright..and looks like it's got a lady on it!" Oh my gosh! I go running for the back of the car to sprinkle it with water so's we can see a date. She says,
"1905 BARBER!"
Woohoo! I finally got that one off my list!
A 1905O Barber dime.
Ended up being a fantastic week! I couldn't wait to share it with ya.
Gonna check out a new spot tomorrow. We'll see if there's any keepers there.
