I bought a 1989 GMC conversion van back in 2007 for the purpose of turning it into a solar bugout van and touring the country. Over the past 2 years I have just about completed it.

Im starting in Corpus Christi for a couple months, then heading to the Grand Canyon for a month, then up to the Northwest, across the country on the North East side during the summer, heading down to Florida for the winter, then back up to Maine and that area for the next summer.

This is the project I have been planning for over a decade and it's why I took up metal detecting not long ago so I could get skilled in it before I set out on my adventure.

The van is loaded... more than any other van I have seen in person yet. I went all James Bond on it. I will be good for long stays away from electricity with the 400 Watts of solar.

I'm psyched!

Maybe I can meet some of you along the way.

I will be in PA for a month or two. My hometown is about 60 miles north of Philadelphia and I have connections in that area to get permission to hunt on grounds that have been used since the 1700s. Living in a small town you tend to know most everyone.

Sounds like great fun! Share a picture of your shuttle craft?

OK I'm Not quite done, about 90%. Need to build cabinet doors, a counter, install a cabinet, install the fridge, and install the solar panels.

It has bed, Induction Stove, Microwave, Convection oven with Rotisserie, 2000 watt inverter, 400 watts of solar, 2 amps, 10 speaker 2000 watt touch screen stereo with backup/front cams, wireless phone, wireless start, alarm, CB, police scanner, toilet, radar detector, and more things than I can remember.

OH and I forgot it has it's own fish pump for keeping bait alive that can be used either inside or outside.

its almost like a bugout vehicle

How cool is this?? Like way COOL!!! What an awesome adventure!

It IS a bugout vehicle... I built it for 2 reasons... One for my trip and going to the coast fishing, two in case our society goes south I will have a place to live that's mobile and solar.

It may sound insane now but mark my words, that wall on the southern border has very little to do with immigration and much more to do with getting a military and border presence there, and fast. There are factors at play most people are not aware of.

This will all become much more clear and apparent closer to 2020.

Hey Dude. That is one AWESOME vehicle! You really rebuilt it from the ground up. Nice job, your planning shows. Good luck, full sails and a following wind.

Here are the wiring diagrams I had to make before I even started

Awesome Van! Ive been wanting to do this for years now to detect and camp out across the states. You should make a living post on your journey and where you will be, if you are ever a 100 miles or so from the Dallas area, I would hunt with ya for sure!

Best of Luck!

I'm only 180 miles now. I live about 30 miles North of Austin

I am in Boise Idaho and would enjoy meeting you if you make it up this way.
