I may be wrong, and I stand corrected if I am, but I'm fairly certain that is just a process of natural erosion on that type of stone. I've seen pieces like that in creeks in my area and several posted on sites before.
If I could tell you on here I would. It's not natural wear but it has a lot of weathering. It is made for a reason. The answer can be found on the signs and symbol thread. You can PM me.
Well hello Grim.
My opinion is that all of the incised stones presented thus far are just clever tricks of nature and that you have an eye out for them...kind of like how if a friend buys a new car...all of a sudden you start noticing similar cars that you didn’t before.
No insult, just an opinion.
There are actually many faults in the earth that have seen regular movement geologically speaking. If you have ever been in many mine tunnels, you will see evidence of this movement in polished faces and striations in the bedrock.
That looks like a sinew stone. Basically the grooves in the rock were produced from scraping against fiberous materials (animal sinews or plant fibers). The fibers were split apart by the rock and then used to make clothes, baskets, or other items. Nice find! View attachment 1837486
Looks hand-made, allright...!
Cool deal, as this doesn't seem natural, or
do some of those lines continue on other side, like a rock with some strata...?
Gaming stone...?
Here's another one the lines are made up of dots if you look closely also you can see concentrated peck marks or Incised cupule's.
I know this stuff is different and I apologise if I'm coming across as argumentive. I'm interested in replies. I hope they are interesting at least.
