Hello my name is Donovan, and live in springfield township Michigan, i just graduated high school, and my aunt and uncle (time4me) bought me a Garrett ace 250 as a gift. a few days later i was out in the yard at my grandpas old farmhouse in Pinckney Mi and within the first 5 minutes i found an 1867 indianhead penny, then alot of junk afterwards. 2 days later i was out in the yard again and came across another indianhead within 5 minutes of detecting again, yippie! I'm a lucky one i just wish it would happen more often. just today i was on a piece of property once owned by the ford family, not mentioning where but came across a large piece of what i suspect as copper flashing scrap, an old square nail, fencing, and a large nail. not what i was specifically looking for but I'm a newbie to the art of detecting.

Very nice indians. Really like them.

Welcome to Tnet and very nice IHs. Keep
detecting and have fun. Jimbob

The indian cents look great. Two more 1867s and you could buy another detector. :thumbsup: :thumbsup:Theres got to be old silver there.

That '67 is sweet!! Nice semi-key date too!!

Sure Donnie, go ahead and rub it in. I'm going to be really sorry for getting you that ACE 250 if you find any more indian heads in Papa's yard. I've hammered that yard so many times over the past 10 years, and you find these two sweet indian heads in your first few minutes of detecting? I'll never hear the end of it :'(

But it was fun detecting with you when we were there for our visit. We'll do a lot more detecting when we come back again for Thanksgiving. In the meantime, please clean out as much of the square nails and rusty iron junk as you can from Papa's yard. But please leave the coins, especially any silver, for me when I get back :wink:

Hey Don, I am in redford Township in Mich. and it's hard to believe that those injuns were'nt toasted, When I find injuns in my neck of the woods, they look like they've been toasted. Your papa must not have used much fertilizer on his place. Awesome injuns, wtg, and welcome to Tnet........... Not GE

Great looking indians, did they come out of the grd. like that or did you clean them and if so how. WTG.

these two came out looking as magnificent as they are right now, no cleaning whatsoever, just a lite rinse to remove the dirt clumps off em. i dont think hes ever fertalized, and if he had it would have been of the all natural variety from the barn floor.;

Jesus! this is the 3 time this week (started with civilman1... he must be a trend setter haha) that someone dug almost perfect IH pennies... Why can't this happen to me an let it be a 1877 haha anyways congrats on your indian heads... I know the feeling of the first find with the ace 250 (my first real find was a sterling silver treeof life ring)

wow they are in great shape. and welcome to the world of detecting addiction!

Those are mighty fine I.H.es, especially the '67! I dug one of those that only grades G due to green encrustations.

I would continue to hit that site if I were you, I think you'll find more goodies.

The proper name for the green crap that gets on copper or bronze or brass items is called; Verdigris, but the Canadians say they are toasted! Also, I've heard 'em called "cookies" while some call them "fine patina" whatever you wanna call it, it is still " green crap" to me. :tard:
