This is a letter printed in the April addition of the Searcher magazine in England. I can't comment on it either way.

Robert.

Good news for the Americans/Canadians (well except for the prices they charge) :icon_thumright:

I'm not 100% sure (others will chime in) but about £1000 a week.

I was on a trip in 2004 and spoke with a few guys that did one of those hunts. They laughed at how one was directed to an area that had given up some gold coins, and he was basically put right on the spot, then found a gold coin. They said how it all happened it was obvious the person who was leading the way knew something was there. My gut feeling is there is many great actual finds made, but where I have the real question is when things are getting a bit dry, it's pretty easy to plant finds and keep the cash flowing. I would never pay to hunt on one of these trips no matter how many say they were satisified, because I just don't believe it's 100% legit. (and that's how I want my finds to be) It's a damn shame $$$ is costing people their favorite long time sites.

It's actually me in my village :laughing7:

I have heard this before. If you get a gold coin on a weeks holiday your either extremely lucky or...(does happen sometimes)
What I found strange is when I asked, a few times whether I could hunt they never replied. :icon_scratch:

I've always wondered if the number of man hours made sense for how much gold was turning up. There has been many great finds made so there is definitely some real detecting happening. As I said I'd have to be sure it's 100% legit, and from that one story I have doubt.
